The best Champions are simply people who care.
Being chosen as a CareApp Champion means someone recognises that in you. You don't need to be a technology expert or have a particular title. You just need to care about connecting people!
This guide will walk you through everything you need to know. You won't be doing any of it alone.
What Makes a Great Champion
Great Champions aren't chosen for their title. They're chosen for their passion.
Look for — or recognise in yourself — someone who:
- Cares about connecting families to everyday moments of care
- Is positive and open to new ways of doing things
- Enjoys helping and encouraging colleagues
- Is already a natural role model for their team
Champions have come from every corner of the care team: Lifestyle Coordinators, Diversional Therapists, Activities Officers, Wellness Partners, Team Leaders, Clinical Managers, Nurse Unit Managers, Directors of Nursing, and Administration Officers. The role doesn't matter. The person does.
Where possible, we recommend two Champions per site.
Two Champions can support each other, share ideas, keep momentum going, and make sure things stay on track if one is away.
Your Role
Before Launch
The CareApp team handles the technical setup. Your role is to prepare your team and help the CareApp team get the information they need.
Before go-live, you'll:
- Provide customer and staff details for your site
- Help coordinate staff access and device setup
- Set up CareApp on devices ready for use
- Join Champion training sessions with our team
- Introduce CareApp to your colleagues and build excitement
- Make sure your team feels confident before families are invited
After Launch
Once your community is live, the real fun begins. Your ongoing role is to help CareApp become part of everyday practice.
After go-live, you'll:
- Encourage staff to share updates and celebrate everyday moments
- Support new team members as they join your community
- Help families get connected and stay engaged
- Celebrate great posts and strong participation
- Share feedback and ideas with the CareApp team
Tips for Success
Lead by doing. The simplest way to encourage your team is to use CareApp yourself. When staff see you sharing, they follow.
Make it a team effort. CareApp works best when the whole team contributes. Your job is to build the habit, not carry it alone.
Celebrate the everyday. The most meaningful posts are often the simplest — a favourite activity, a shared meal, a quiet moment of connection. Help your team see the value in the ordinary.
Ask for support. You are never expected to do this alone. Our team is here throughout implementation and beyond.
Your Tools
Once your community is set up, you'll have access to tools that help you keep things running well.
Staff Access
Confirm staff profiles are accurate and support new team members as they join. If something looks off, let the CareApp team know and we'll help you sort it.
DeleteCustomer and Resident Profiles
Check that information is up to date and that the right family members are linked correctly. Accurate profiles make sure posts and updates reach the right people.
DeleteFamily Connections
Encourage families to join CareApp and support those who need a little help getting started. Connected families are more engaged families.
DeleteInsights
Use the Insights tab to monitor posting activity, celebrate your team's participation, and spot opportunities to encourage more engagement. It's also a great way to share wins at team meetings.
