Your posts are a family's window into the life and care of someone they love — reducing anxiety, building trust, and showing that their loved one is seen and cared for. You don't need anything elaborate. Genuine, warm, and real is always enough.


What to Post

Think of CareApp as the updates you'd want a family to hear if they called to ask, "How is Mum going today?" Anything you'd genuinely want a family to know is a great candidate for a post.


Here are some real-life examples to get you started.

Activities and Lifestyle

This is the most common type of post — a photo with a short caption capturing something that happened during your shift or visit.


Great moments to capture:

  • Arts and crafts, painting, pottery, drawing
  • Group activities — trivia, bingo, puzzles, card games
  • Exercise classes, chair yoga, walking groups
  • Cooking and baking sessions
  • Music, sing-alongs, performances, or entertainment
  • Outings — a trip to the shops, a drive, a visit to the park or beach
  • Morning tea, a special meal, or a social gathering
  • Relaxing in the garden, enjoying some sunshine, or a quiet moment with a book
  • A cuddle with a therapy pet

Tips for a great photo:

  • Lighting: Natural light works best — near a window or step outside if you can
  • Distance: Get close enough so the person's face is clearly visible
  • Take a few: Snap 2–3 shots so you have options to choose from
  • Pick the best one: Choose the one where they look most natural and comfortable
  • Genuine moments: Candid shots almost always look better than posed ones — real smiles tell a better story
 
 

Daily Wellbeing Updates

You don't always need a photo. A short note is a lovely way to let a family know how their loved one is doing — especially if you've just done the morning rounds or popped in for a visit.

 

 

Caption examples:

"Just a quick note to say Gerald has had a lovely, restful morning. He slept well, enjoyed his breakfast, and has been sitting by the window watching the birds. He's thinking of joining the gardening session this afternoon — we'll see!"


"Dorothy was in great spirits today. She had a good sleep and enjoyed her morning tea with friends. Lots of laughs — just what the doctor ordered!"


"Popped in for a visit this afternoon. Frank is comfortable and relaxed, listening to his favourite music. He sends his love."

 
 

Health and Care Updates

It's completely fine to share relevant health and care updates on CareApp — families appreciate knowing how things are going. This isn't the place for formal clinical records (those belong in your clinical system), but a warm, reassuring update is always welcome.

Ways to share a health or care update:

  • Note — a short written update, no photo needed
  • Photo post with sensitive content blur — share an image while keeping sensitive details appropriately private
  • Document — attach a document directly to the client's profile
  • Check-in — a quick mood and wellbeing update with optional tags and a short note

Quick Check-Ins

The check-in is the fastest post to create — perfect when you want to leave a quick update but don't have time for a longer note or don't have a photo.


Simply select how the person is feeling, then choose from a range of tags to describe their day — options include things like Relaxed, Active, Social, One-on-one time, Resting, Out and about, and more. Add a short note if you'd like to say a little more.


Check-ins are also a great way for disability support workers to log activity and goal progress at the end of a session or visit.

CareApp isn't just for individual client updates — it's also a great way to share what's happening across your community. These are best shared as a Notice.

Don't Worry About Getting It Wrong


If you're new to CareApp, you might wonder whether you could accidentally share something you shouldn't. Here's the reassuring part: every post is reviewed and approved by a Site Coordinator before families can see it — so there's always a second set of eyes before anything goes live. And if you ever make a mistake, you can easily edit your post at any time. So post with confidence!

Expanding Beyond the Lifestyle Team


CareApp works best when the whole team is involved — everyone has something to share:

  • Lifestyle staff→ activities, group programs, creative projects, outings
  • Personal carers → daily updates, wellbeing notes, morning check-ins
  • Nurses and clinical staff → care updates, recovery notes, wellbeing check-ins
  • Allied health → therapy notes, progress updates, goal milestones
  • Kitchen team → menus, meal photos, special occasion notices
  • Pastoral care → emotional wellbeing, spiritual support, connection moments
  • Volunteers → photos, stories, and companionship moments

Privacy and Dignity


CareApp is a private, secure platform — posts are only ever visible to the family members connected to that particular client or resident. Even so, always post with care and respect:

  • Always consider whether the person would be comfortable with what you're sharing
  • Post to the correct client's profile
  • If you're unsure about consent for a photo, check with your supervisor
